Hut built from logs

Has anyone built their hut from logs? I’m considering doing this with bought logs. Any issues with planning permission?

There was a guy who built a hut from logs at one of the Thousand Huts rallies. Somewhere up near Inverness IIRC. When I get time I’ll have a search and see if I can find a contact.

Can’t see any problem from planners; must be the ultimate ‘natural’ ‘sympathetic’ building material.

I think it was Touks Wood I was thinking of. At Stonehaven, by Aberdeen. Email: forester@touckswood.co.uk Possibly the cabin in the background of photo on this web page?:

Edit: Another log cabin builder might have been Peter Dreghorn? If my memory serves.

I can’t see why it would be an issue either. There are a few log builders about… Henry Fosbrooke would be worth chatting to, he’s done plenty (not specifically huts I don’t think tho) including this one local to me… Borgie Cabin – North Sutherland Community Forest Trust
