Julia & I at Catkin Ecology are currently working on a project for Woodland Trust Scotland, scoping the potential for seed stands to improve the availability of local provenance montane and pioneer tree species, particularly montane and submontane willows, juniper, dwarf birch and rock whitebeam.
For a general introduction see this article.
It would be great to have a range of feedback from the community on:
1. Existing seed stands for montane and pioneer trees
2. Plans or interest from small nurseries in establishing montane willow, juniper or dwarf birch stands.
3. Species-provenance combinations where obtaining seed or saplings has been particularly difficult.
This information will be used to develop a national framework for montane and pioneer seed stand creation. Thanks,
Innes
