Welcome to Reforesting Scotland Community Hub! 👋

Welcome to the Reforesting Scotland Hub

We’re so glad you’ve joined us!

The Reforesting Scotland Hub has been created as a place for folk to come together and discuss. It aims to be a home for the many groups that are affiliated to Reforesting Scotland, but is also an open forum for others to use. The Hub is free to use and you don’t need to be a member of Reforesting Scotland.

How the Hub works and is organised

The Hub is built on a forum software called Discourse. Once you’ve signed up you can create new topics and join in on other discussions. One of our aims is for the Hub to become a resource and knowledge base as topics build, so we’ve added some special features to enable this:

  • Resourses section: for articles, videos, directories and topics that can be referred back to.
  • Events Calendar: for courses, gatherings and webinars
  • Wiki Posts: these posts are editable by anyone - really useful for community built directories, knowledge articles etc.
  • Plus of course standard discussion topics. You can embed videos, links, photos and more into these.
  • Chat feature, for general chitchat that doesn’t fit into a category
  • Private Messaging so you can followup on discussions with individual users.

For a more detailed guide on how to use the hub, read our new user guide.

We welcome feedback on these features and any suggestions for new features. You can use the Site Feedback category for this.

Supporting the Hub

This Hub is administered by Reforesting Scotland, and moderated by volunteers. We rely entirely on our members to fund these projects and the best way to support the site is to join as a member. You can join online via our web shop. If you’re already a member, consider giving a gift of membership to a friend or family member.

Getting Started

Here are some things you can do to get started:

:speaking_head: Introduce yourself by adding your picture and information about yourself and your interests to your profile. What is one thing you’d like to be asked about?

:open_book: Get to know the community by browsing discussions that are already happening here. When you find a post interesting, informative, or entertaining, use the  to show your appreciation or support!

:handshake: Contribute by commenting, sharing your own perspective, asking questions, or offering feedback in the discussion. Before replying or starting new topics, please review the Community Guidelines.

If you need help or have a suggestion, feel free to ask in Site Feedback or contact the admins.
